La Fenice Aurea | Italian Glazed Porcelain Tile
Aurea evokes the golden era of ancient Rome with each color name referencing a famous place in the hallowed city. The look is old marble that was installed centuries ago. The surface is slightly undulated, giving the effect of a floor that has had people walking across it for hundreds of years. The undulation includes edges that are not completely flat creating some high and low areas that present as lippage. There are also little scratches in the graphic to add to the worn effect. The final result is an antiqued marble that uses history to elevate a contemporary application.

Please Note
It’s never advisable to select tile from images alone, especially when viewed on a screen since they can look different on different kinds of screens. Pictures are provided to give an idea of the look and variation. Colors are intended as a guide only and may vary from actual tile. Sizes listed are nominal. Please check samples before making final selection and to get actual dimensions for layout.
Trim
The surface bullnose is made from field tile that is cut, ground and reglazed.
Sizes
*Due to the special packing required for the large format tiles, orders for the 24x48 size must be for full box quantities only & we are not able to fill orders on the same day as placed.
Usage and Installation Information
Aurea is suitable for walls and floors including residential and light commercial use. Please note that the 12 x 12 and the 3 x 12 in Bianco Navona is cut from a larger size. With the undulated surface on the larger size, it means that the edges are not completely flat which can appear like lippage but is actually part of the look. It is recommended to use a 1/8” or larger grout joint to soften the edges.
To attain the proper mix of graphics and color, it is important to pull from multiple boxes during installation, rotate pieces, and note the placement of the different images to get the proper final blend.
Most Italian manufacturers recommend a maximum offset of 8” (20cm) on all large format tiles when setting a running bond. Please refer to ANSI requirements for setting large format tiles, ANSI A 108.2 Section 4.3.8. There are special setting requirements and materials for large format tiles. Please refer to the TCNA Handbook and guidelines by your mortar manufacturer for more information.

The Dynamic Coefficient of Friction is a general guide only. Testing may vary with different production runs and with different testing labs. As noted in the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) the coefficient of friction varies considerably due to facts not under the control of entities such as the manufacturers and distributors. These factors include, but are not limited to, contaminants, slope of terrain, drainage conditions, adjacent surfaces, etc. Suitability for any installation can only be determined by a site examination of all conditions that could affect the slip resistance of the tile being installed. Continual cleaning and maintenance must be performed once the tile has been installed.
